Merry Christmas Everyone,
and a Happy New Year This webpage is the easiest way to wish everyone the compliments of the season.
The good news is we're both healthy and even better news is so are our family members and friends. The highlight on our 2010 social calendar was the many enjoyable outings we had with family & friends. This includes dinners, social and sporting events.
The Elks of Victoria hosted many enjoyable events we attended, including their many dinner/dances and golf tournaments. Thanks to Irene & George for including us in their lives. Jay & Suzanne were so good to us for another year as were Sam & Irene. Ken & Eileen had some great parties and shared their their time with us at a few dinner/dances throughout 2010. Walter & Paquerette joined us last New Year's Eve Celebration at our mess and we hope to do it again this year.
Thanks to our continuing good health, Bernice and I were able to enjoy our many walks. One of my cycling trips from Sooke Potholes to Leechtown proved a bit scary when a black bear attempted to attack me while returning on the Galloping Goose Trail on my bike.

Thanks also to Dustin for safely guiding me up to Peden Lake (in the Sooke Hills) and cycling with me from Lake Cowichan southward on the Trans Canada Trail to the Kinsol Trestle (37km) in January 2010.
My longest cycling ride this year, was 52km. This was roundtrip from home outbound using the Interurban Trail and crossing over Hwy-17 at Amity road to the Lochside Trail for the inbound leg. The temperature that day was 32*C., making it a memorable event for several reasons.
Another bikeride of 2010, was on the former CNR Tidewater Subdivision right-of-way (ROW) from Koksilah Road (near Miller) to Deerholme then on to the Kinsol Trestle (34km roundtrip). This trail must be preserved for future generations. It is my habit to cycle this railtrail at least once a year. See the VIDEO
Bernice & I climbed Mt. Douglas again this year and were over Mt. Tolmie almost on a weekly basis. All proved to be lots of fun and provided healthful exercise.

We visited the KINSOL TRESTLE several times throughout the year.

We hiked the Othello Tunnels near Hope, BC, and hiked and cycled the Myra Canyon Section of the Kettle Valley Railway (KVR) railtrail. Othello is also part of the KVR and all form parts of the Trans Canada Trail (TCT). We hiked sections of the TCT at Princeton, BC, including crossing the Tulameen River.
While the men cycled down Knox Mountain the women toured the wineries. A good time was had by all. We topped the holiday off with a ride on the KVR Steam Train out of Summerland, BC.
