click to view larger Today George, Jay, Wilf and myself golfed Olympic View. We started out in the rain but it cleared up after three holes and was shirt-sleave weather the rest of our game.

Yes, we have the pictures to prove it.

rain soaked trailBern stopping on the trail
We had over three inches (77.2mm) of rain on Monday
P.S.
My camera flash
caught the peak on my ballcap -- silly me.

Read about Bill and Nancy's 50th Anniversary
Bill and Nancy had a wonderful 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration yesterday at their son Neil's home. Lynne and the three children all worked to provide food and drink for the many friends who came out.
newspaper article Bill and Nancy received an expenses paid Princess Caribbean cruise from their family. Congratulations to our friends!

*copy*Today the rain stopped and we walked around Cedar Hill Golf Course. The wind that came with the rain took a couple of trees down along our walk; here's a picture of one:

Thanksgiving came early to our house. We had the kids over for turkey, ham and all the trimmingson Saturday. Gave thanks, especially to Bern for cooking it all for us.

Thanks again, Peter, for your great screenshots and interesting story. One thing about us writers is we make up a lot of stuff. As one who has lived by the sea for the over 150 years (first in the Orkney Islands and now Vancouver Island) you've piqued my interest in the Chris Craft Barrelback depicted. I've never seen one with a wooden integral top. Is this a replica of a real boat and if so, which model?

Here's what I've learned from your post:

Your scenery looks like the real L. Cushman

Thanks to MapTech.com for all my digital charts

Bill

click to view largerBern standing by the runoff from last night's rainfall
We had over an inch (25.2mm) of rain last night -- it poured at about 8:00 p.m. and then again throughout the night. This rain will go a long way to ending the drought. Also on this walk, I picked up the first traces of a cold. I should have had my vest on instead of the jacket which had to be removed after heating up from walking. Anyway, we'll get used to the cooler weather; it's nice to see the seasonal changes coming on.
P.S.
My camera
now shows the correct date since the internal clock was reset to the correct time; it was eleven hours out; thus, changing the day around noonday -- silly me.

click to view largerThis morning [Saturday] after hitting a bucket of balls, I drove friends to Victoria Airport, CYYJ, for their journey to Calgary, CYYC, for a couple of days.

I stopped in at the comuter store on the way back and checked with the guru on how to do multiple burns to a CD; using Nero Ex software, the data could be burned once but couldn't be added to. There's a little check box that needed to be unchecked (each time) in order for the disc to not be 'finalized'.

After that got working, I scanned some old 1977 photos using the new Canon Lide20 -- what a great piece of hardware! Here's my hiking and biking buddy from over a quarter of a century ago -- Jennifer, my youngest daughter. Love you, Jen.

Wednesday is quickly becoming my favourite day of the week. Why? Well, because once a month it's when I attend the Saltire gathering at the Union Club of BC! October's gathering is traditionally Ladies' Night so our wives get to join us for sherry tasting and enjoying a presentation from one of our members.

Last night the talk was titled: "Scottish Cooking -- from tragedy to triumph". Much to everyone's delight, we were served some of the 'triumphs' afterward. These included Scotch Eggs and scones ( but, no haggis).

Oh the walk? We walked the block from the car to the Club -- and back again ;-)

This morning [Thursday] I walked Cedar Hill and hit a hundred balls. Again, the date in my camera is wrong. The crazy thing showed October 1st when the pictures were taken and by the time I loaded them into the computer, it had changed to the 2nd -- go figure. It must have a computer inside it.
